MARCoNS: Are Hidden Sinus Issues Affecting Energy & Vitality

If you’ve been dealing with fatigue, brain fog, or hormone imbalances that don’t fully resolve, it may be lingering sinus issues. It’s probably time to take a more targeted look at what’s going on beneath the surface.

MARCoNS (Multiple Antibiotic-Resistant Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci) is a biofilm-forming bacteria that can live deep in the sinuses and is often associated with Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS), particularly in individuals sensitive to biotoxins such as mold. [1–3]

While it may not always be the root cause, it can contribute to ongoing inflammation that affects how your body feels, functions, and recovers. At ViveWell Health, we take a more intentional approach—helping identify hidden factors like this so we can better support your body’s natural healing process.

Understanding MARCoNS and Their Connection to Sinus Issues

MARCoNS is often part of a larger inflammatory pattern seen in CIRS. One important piece of this process involves α-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (MSH), which helps regulate inflammation, immune response, and overall balance in the body.

When MSH levels are lower, the body may be more vulnerable to persistent sinus issues like MARCoNS. In turn, these bacteria can continue to disrupt that balance, creating a cycle where inflammation stays active longer than it should. [1–3]

With the right sequence of care—starting with environmental awareness and followed by more targeted support—this cycle may be addressed in a way that helps your body move toward more stable recovery.

How It May Affect Energy, Hormones, and Vitality

When chronic sinus issues are present, it doesn’t just stay localized. It may influence multiple systems throughout the body, often showing up as symptoms that feel unrelated at first.

    Energy and Hormonal Balance

Chronic inflammation and disrupted MSH signaling may affect how the brain communicates with the endocrine system. This can influence adrenal function, as well as testosterone, estrogen, and vitamin D levels—factors that play a role in daily energy, recovery, and overall vitality. [4–6]

    Metabolism and Weight Regulation

Ongoing inflammation may also affect how the body responds to key metabolic signals like leptin and insulin. This can make it more difficult to maintain steady energy or see progress with weight and metabolic health, even when lifestyle habits are consistent. [7–9]

    Cardiovascular and Systemic Health

Chronic sinus issues and systemic inflammation have been associated with changes in lipid levels and broader cardiovascular risk markers. While this connection may not always be obvious, it highlights how closely inflammation is tied to overall health. [10–12]

Brain Fog, Mood, and Mental Clarity

Persistent sinus inflammation has been linked to higher rates of anxiety, depression, and cognitive fatigue. Many people describe this as brain fog or feeling “off,” especially when clarity and focus are harder to maintain throughout the day. [13–16]

    Gut Health and Immune Function

MSH also plays a role in maintaining the integrity of the gut lining. When this system is disrupted, it may affect intestinal permeability and immune balance—both of which influence how the body processes nutrients and responds to inflammation. [17–19]

Why This Matters for a More Personalized Path Forward

If you’ve been actively working on your health—supporting your hormones, improving nutrition, or investing in longevity strategies—but still feel like something is missing, this type of hidden sinus issue may be worth exploring.

At ViveWell Health, we take a full-picture approach. That means looking beyond surface-level symptoms to understand how different systems are interacting—and where more targeted support may help.

    Your care plan may include:

    • Advanced testing (including MARCoNS screening and inflammatory markers)
    • Hormone and metabolic evaluation
    • Targeted sinus and immune support
    • Nutritional and lifestyle strategies
    • Regenerative therapies designed to support recovery and resilience

Everything is built around your body, your history, and your goals—so you can move forward with more clarity and confidence.

What If You Could Feel More Like Yourself Again

When underlying drivers of inflammation are better understood and supported, many people begin to notice meaningful shifts—like clearer thinking, more consistent energy, and improved resilience.

This is about creating a more intentional path forward—one that supports how your body is designed to function so you can move, think, and feel with more confidence.

  • How Bio-oxidative Therapies Work

    How Bio-oxidative Therapies Work

Dr. Frank Shallenberger, a leading US authority from Nevada, has described the unique bio-oxidative effects in Nathaniel Altman’s Oxygen Healing Therapies  (which is essential reading for those seeking scientific evidence, p.19, see main text.)

    1. The therapies stimulate the generation of white blood cells, crucial for fighting infections.
    2. Ozone and hydrogen peroxide have virucidal properties.
    3. Both enhance oxygen and hemoglobin disassociation, leading to increased oxygen delivery from blood to cells.
    4. Ozone therapies have anti-neoplastic effects, inhibiting the growth of new tissues such as tumors.
    5. Bio-oxidative therapies oxidize and break down petrochemicals.
    6. They enhance the flexibility and effectiveness of red blood cells by increasing their membrane distensibility.
    7. The therapies boost the production of interferon and tumor necrosis factor, which aid in combating infections and cancer.
    8. They improve the efficiency of the antioxidant enzyme system, responsible for scavenging excess free radicals.
    9. They speed up the citric acid cycle, the primary process for releasing energy from sugars, thereby stimulating basic metabolism.
    10. These treatments elevate tissue oxygenation, resulting in patient improvement.

Another significant point is that cancer cells are weakened through fermentation, which produces only 1/19 of the ATP compared to oxidation, causing them to be chronically deprived of energy. Consequently, cancer cells become incapable of manufacturing the antioxidant enzymes glutathione peroxidase, superoxide dismutase, catalase, and reductase that protect normal cells from oxidative damage.

As a result, cancer cells become highly vulnerable to cell lysis induced by ozone and H2O2. By saturating the body with oxygen, these therapies aim to maximize the biological ‘combustion’ of both energy supplies and toxins through proper oxidation, allowing the effective elimination of toxic substances and boosting the immune system.

Why is oxygen metabolism so important?

The air we breathe contains oxygen, which is transported throughout our body and used in every cell for an important process called metabolism. In this symphony of reactions, the food we eat is transformed into the energy we need… and oxygen is a crucial, immediate ingredient.

Otto Warburg won a Nobel Prize for his work on the fundamental importance of oxygen transfer in cell respiration in 1931.

Later in 1966, while he served as Director of The Max Planck Institute for Cell Physiology, Warburg published The Prime Cause and Prevention of Cancer,  where he states:

“Cancer, above all other diseases, has countless secondary causes, but there is only one prime cause… the replacement of the normal oxygen respiration of body cells by an anaerobic [oxygen lacking] cell respiration.”

In other words, cancer cells are nurtured by low-oxygen environments. This foundational principle explains why treatments that improve oxygen delivery and metabolism are so effective in the battle against diseases like Cancer.

    What is ozone?

Ozone (O3) occurs naturally in the atmosphere and is formed when ultraviolet radiation or lightning forces oxygen (O2) molecules to recombine temporarily in groups of three (O3), as an energized form of oxygen, or “oxygen radical,” which quickly reacts with other substances.

Simply put, ozone is energized oxygen!

Medical Ozone Therapy is backed by more than 125 years of science

In 1898, Drs. Thauerkauf and Luth created the German Institute of Oxygen-Ozone Therapy and published the first studies in animals.

In 1911, Dr. Noble Eberhart, head of the Department of Physiology of Loyola Chicago University, in the Manual of High-Frequency Operation, states that he used ozone to treat tuberculosis, anemia, chlorosis (iron deficiency anemia), tinnitus, whooping cough, asthma, bronchitis, hay fever, insomnia, pneumonia, diabetes, gout, and syphilis. He created the first university teaching center dedicated, among other things, to ozone therapy.

In 1913, Dr. Blass founded the first German association of ozone therapy.

In 1915, Dr. Wolf, chief surgeon of the medical services of the German army, extended its use for topical treatment of infected wounds, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy, gangrene, and decubitus ulcers. Dr.Wolf later published Medical Ozone, a classic about ozone therapy.

In 1932, a Swiss dentist, Dr. Fish published the applications of ozone in dentistry to treat caries (cavities) and patented the first device specifically for this application, the Cytozon.

In 1957, the emergence of plastics resistant to ozone led German physician, Dr. Hänsler, to manufacture the first modern ozone generator, which served as a model for modern-day generators.

In 1961, Dr. Hans Wolff developed the major and minor autohemotherapy techniques, still the standards for modern ozone therapy.

In the 1980s, Renate Viebahn-Hansler wrote the classic text, The Medical Use of Ozone, which describes innumerable local and system applications of ozone therapy.

In 2010, the International Scientific Committee on Ozone wrote The Madrid Declaration to serve as a global standard for ozone therapy. Later revised in 2015, The Madrid Declaration contains references and instructions for every ozone application currently used in the scientific ozone community.

    How do bio-oxidative therapies work?

Dr. Frank Shallenberger, father of ozone therapies in the US, has outlined his findings on bio-oxidative therapies and their effects. Some key benefits include that these therapies stimulate white blood cell production, increase oxygen delivery to cells, and have anti-neoplastic properties. They also oxidize petrochemicals and enhance antioxidant enzyme efficiency. Additionally, cancer cells, deprived of energy due to fermentation, become vulnerable to these therapies when the body is flooded with oxygen, leading to effective toxin elimination and immune system boosting.

What is Ozone Major Autohemotherapy (O3 MAH)?

Ozone major autohemotherapy is a procedure by which your blood is drawn from your body, then exposed to small amounts of ozone gas, before it is transfused back into your body. The ozone gas won’t actually enter your body.

The technique was developed decades ago, based on careful science, which revealed an important principle of “hormesis” where low doses of a substance can cause a beneficial effect, but more is not better. Once your blood is exposed to the ozone gas, the “therapeutic stress” of oxygen radicals starts a chain reaction of signaling to increase antioxidant production, reduce inflammation, and stimulate regenerative pathways that offer many healing benefits.

What is the difference between Ozone Minor Autohemotherapy and Major Autohemotherapy?

There are a couple of differences between ozone minor autohemotherapy and ozone major autohemotherapy. Both can provide you access to autohemotherapy benefits, but the major option tends to be more powerful.

In ozone minor autohemotherapy, only a small amount of ozone gas is mixed with a small volume of blood then the mixture is then injected as a “shot” to stimulate the immune response. With ozone major autohemotherapy, however, more blood is exposed to a larger volume of ozone gas and transfused via an IV catheter.

Ozone major autohemotherapy (MAH) treatment recommendations vary depending on the clinical circumstance. They can be performed several times weekly for patients with moderate to severe illness, or spaced out to once a week, every other week, or once monthly as patients realize the benefits. Each MAH session takes up to an hour to perform, but the lasting benefits vary with each person’s circumstance.

What are the benefits of receiving O3 MAH?

During major autohemotherapy, your blood is exposed to ozone gas, which deactivates any circulating pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria, and fungi, that are present in your blood. More importantly, the oxidized parts of the blood send a message through your body to activate and strengthen your antioxidant systems, anti-inflammatory cellular messaging, and increase immune system functions, making your body’s defenses more capable.

Ozone Major Autohemotherapy treatments are like “metabolic push-ups”, strengthening every cell.

This process also helps to improve the efficiency of oxygen use in your body at a cellular level, contributing to how cells are able to create energy from food, repair themselves, grow, and divide.

With our all-natural procedure, you can experience real relief and with every session, you’ll start to feel better!

    Commonly treated conditions include:

    1. Infectious diseases (bacterial, viral, fungal, parasitic)

Major autohemotherapy has been used for many years in Asia, Europe, South America, and many parts of North America. It continues to gain interest in treating various diseases of the human body.

Major autohemotherapy does not yet have approval from the FDA in the U.S.

However, just because the FDA hasn’t approved MAH ozone yet doesn’t mean that we can’t use this type of therapy — it only means they need more research demonstrating its safety and effectiveness prior to adding their stamp of approval.

O3 MAH treatment effects on inflammation and metabolism

Oxygen utilization plays an incredibly important role in the mitochondria. These are cells that affect the metabolism of various factors, such as fat, glucose, and proteins, into a usable energy molecule — often referred to simply as ATP. While the presence of these nutrients is important to ensure the mitochondria contribute to the availability of ATP, it’s also crucial to understand the role of oxygen in the process. Overall, the mitochondria are important to ensure metabolism can happen normally. Some studies have also indicated that by improving mitochondrial function, it might be possible to develop a cure for conditions like obesity and diabetes, though further research is still needed on this subject.

    belly fat and sluggish metabolism

Mitochondrial dysfunction can occur due to poor oxygen utilization, which is where O3 MAH treatments come into the picture. These are not drug treatments but methods that help normalize the NAD/NADH ratio. With this treatment, oxygen utilization in the body can significantly increase. This, in turn, can help to improve mitochondrial function.

What we need to keep in mind here, too, is the fact that inflammation is a pre-mitochondrial factor that can have an impact on metabolism as well as cellular health. Inflammation also causes damage that can have an impact on oxygen utilization within the affected regions. When this happens, it affects the healing mechanisms of the body, which then leads to chronic inflammation. This becomes a vicious cycle in the process.

Again, this is where ozone therapy can come to the rescue. Research shows that ozone therapy holds the potential to assist in producing anti-inflammatory effects. One study provided evidence of the anti-inflammatory effects of ozone therapy in rheumatoid arthritis experimental models.

In another study, researchers provide evidence for the use of ozone therapy in reducing cytokines that are pro-inflammatory. This particular study was done on subjects with temporomandibular and musculoskeletal disorders.

Reducing inflammation can greatly improve oxygen utilization in mitochondria, which can contribute to enhanced metabolism and cellular function.

What to expect with O3 MAH treatment?

The O3 MAH treatment process allows you to take advantage of major autohemotherapy benefits, and it is a rather simple process. Here are the steps you can expect from the treatment:

    1. You’ll first be asked to take a seat and make yourself comfortable.
    2. One of the specialists at ViveWell Health will draw blood from a vein into an IV bag with some saline (salt water).
    3. The blood is then exposed to a carefully measured dose of ozone gas.
    4. The last step is to drip the mixture back into your body.

You may experience slight discomfort or pinching when the needle pierces your skin, but most patients don’t report any complaints while they undergo the treatment.

Aren’t there side effects to Ozone Major Autohemotherapy?

ViveWell’s Ozone Therapy is carefully monitored and administered by trained medical professionals.

Although there are always some risks associated with any IV procedure, when administered by a trained medical professional, the risk of side effects is minimal but possible.

Potential IV treatment side effects can include swelling, bruising, redness, tenderness, or infection at the injection site.

The International Scientific Committee of Ozone Therapy review found an occurrence of just six complications out of every 100,000 ozone therapy treatments.

84% of reported complications were due to incorrect administration of  the ozone and non-sterile handling. While considered very safe, ozone therapy has potential side effects such as

    • Mild headache
    • Dizziness/lightheadedness
    • Nausea
    • Changes in energy levels
    • Shortness of breath

Another important matter to mention here is that when side effects are experienced, they are generally mild. This helps to give you peace of mind — even if you do experience adverse reactions while you undergo our therapy, they will be mild and only temporary.

    O3 MAH Standard Dose

$200 per standard dose infusion (up to 200 mL of blood treated)

    – 5 infusion bundle 10% off = $900 ($100 savings)

    – 10 infusion bundle 15% off = $1,700 ($300 savings)

*** Reuse the IV bag and tubing to increase your therapy with a “multi-pass” treatment of another batch of blood – $75 per additional infusion

Ozone Major Autohemotherapy and other therapies

The great thing about major autohemotherapy is the fact that it can be used as a complementary addition to other therapies, like chelation, PRP, Prolozone, Exosomes, and more. In fact, not only can you combine therapies, but many of ViveWell Health’s regenerative therapies can be stacked to work synergistically and deliver even better results than one kind of treatment alone.

What if I’m seeing a Naturopath, Chiropractor, or getting Acupuncture?

If you are already undergoing physical therapy or using naturopathy, then Ozone major autohemotherapy can still be a good option for you. It won’t interfere with existing therapies that you are using. Often times it works together to maximize the healing benefits you experience from other therapies.
